Running Club
Running club is about to begin! Registration forms are being sent home with students.
In order to register, students must return the bottom portion of the form to their teacher before the first day of practice!
You can't register online for running club!
Students can certainly go above and beyond and run on their own time for extra practice. We will have our 3 races this season and compete against other schools!
How does running club differ than cross-country club?
We run for fun without times or incentives (no feet tokens), it costs less money ($10 fee added through infinite campus), races are scheduled against other schools and shirts are available for purchase.

Fees can be paid through Infinite Campus. (wait a few weeks for the fee to be added please)
Shirts are available for purchase through the attached website. Shirts are not necessary but available for anyone who might want one.

2024-2025 Information
The following is the schedule for race day (times may vary a little).
2:30 – 2:40 Runners picked up early from school to avoid delays.
PARK IN THE FRONT LOT TO COME IN AND SIGN STUDENT OUT
3:00 – 3:30 Arrive at Tumbleweed or Snedigar and look for the Riggs group.
3:30 Check shoelaces, use the rest room, make sure you have on your race sticker on. We will stretch and warm up as a group.
3:45 ----The Race begins----
4:00 – 4:15 Runners cross finish line, remove sticker, receive place number and snack. They can leave with parents after their race is over.
NO AWARDS CEREMONY!!
Awards will be given at school over the announcements.
**** Please wear appropriate running shoes and clothing.
If you have a Riggs Running Club or Riggs Elementary
T-shirt wear it on race day! Bring water bottles

Where is Tumbleweed Park and where do I park?
Parents provide transportation for their runner to Tumbleweed Park (McQueen and Germann). Basically take the Loop 202 and exit on McQueen. Head south (ie. take a left off the freeway) toward Germann and then turn west on Germann (ie. take a right on Germann). Stay on Germann til you come to Hamilton St. PAST the Tumbleweed Rec Center. At Hamilton St., turn left into a giant parking lot. Park and meet our team near the large grassy field/ramadas (this area is between the Rec Center and the parking lot).
Where is Snedigar Park and where do I park?
Parents provide transportation for their runner to Snedigar Park (Chandler Heights and Alma School). Basically drive local on Chandler Heights (west) until you reach Alma School. Turn right (north) on Alma School and then right on S Fulton Ranch Blvd. Then, turn left on Basha Road. Parking will be available to the left and right of this road (if you pass the skate park you have travelled too far north). Park your car (see map below for the 3 parking areas available) and meet our team near the large grassy field where the race start is located.
