Battle of the Books
The Battle of the Books is a statewide competition that is held in partnership with local public libraries. The Battle is offered to 5th and 6th grade students who sign up in teams of three. The members of each team all read the same four assigned titles each quarter. At the end of each quarter, the teams orally quiz on the books. Points are awarded and accumulate. After the third and final competition in the spring, the team that has accumulated the most points after the three main school competitions will go on to represent our school at the City of Chandler semi-final competition that will take place at the Chandler City Council Chambers.
- 5th and 6th grade students team up in groups of 2 - 3 students.
- Student teams read the required books for each quarter.
- During the quarter, students meet with club sponsor, Mrs. Reininga and read, have mock battles and study with their groups. Study sessions and battle dates are listed below. Sessions are before school at 8:00 or whenever bus students arrive.
- There are 3 school battle competitions, typically held at the beginning of the following quarter. The scores will be totaled from all three battles and the winning team will go to District Semi Finals.
